What is it:

  • it's the world's largest short film festival. It's held outdoors...and it's awesome =]
  • More info here: http://www.tropfest.com/au/

When is it:
Today, Sunday 20th February
There's no need for you to come down any earlier than say 5pm, and the movies don't get underway until about 8pm, anyway.

Where is it:
The Domain, Sydney. That's inbetween the Botanic Gardens and St Mary's Cathedral (near Hyde Park) basically.

Map link here - http://maps.google.com.au/maps?um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=the+domain+sydney+map&fb=1&gl=au&hq=the+domain+sydney+map&hnear=the+domain+sydney+map&cid=0,0,1081283275369080736&ei=PlJgTd6BLY2mugP_6PDwAg&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CBYQnwIwAA

How to find us:
When you're at the domain, TEXT us for directions. You can reach either me or Patrick. Me - 0420-438-473, 0421-514-980.

Okies...see you there.

PS - Don't forget to bring a plate of something to eat...it's POTLUCK, which means everyone brings enough food for one person and we share everything. I'll bring down plates and cutlery =]

Bring along a piece of clothing tomorrow

Posted by moe-hib on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 , LABELS: | comments (0)

Can everyone remember to bring in a piece of clothing for us to hang up on rack for the steady cam project tomorrow. Something thick would be the better. After we film you will of course get it back. Thanks.

AIT Steadicam Project Rundown

Posted by Patrick on , LABELS: | comments (0)

Dear all,
19th of January, tomorrow, is the date we set to film the AIT steadicam promotion video.
The production starts at 3:30 pm and may go on for a few hours.
We only have one day to film, so we will have to finish it tomorrow, no matter what.
Please keep yourself available before 8 pm.

At this moment, no team has spoken to me about any expense, so I am going to assume there is none.
Anyway, we've already gone seriously over-budget for renting the steadicam and make-up.
Let's make every cent count.

Tomorrow, at 3:30 pm we will meet at the reception and then we will do a completely walk-through for 15 minutes.  After that, we will start to set up.  Hopefully we start rolling camera by 5 pm.  And if it goes well, we should be able to finish in an hour or two.  fingers crossed.

[Memento] Cast

Posted by Anx on Thursday, January 6, 2011 , LABELS: | comments (0)

We need 2 guys for the lead roles.

Both of them should be under 35, fit, and the most important part: able and willing to run.
We don't have any preferences about the race or physical traits.
We're very adaptable about the "fit" part as well.
It would be an advantage though if one of them would have an artsy look, as our character is an artist.

Mad Pack It Script and desired cast

Still unsure about name

1 INT. KITCHEN- NIGHT 1

It starts off with a black screen.

LITTLE BOY
Mummy why are you crying?

Door knocks

MOTHER
Get under the table now!

LITTLE BOY
But mu....

MOTHER
I said now!

(With dramatic music playing in the background.)

CUT TO:

2 INT. KITCHEN- NIGHT 2

A POV shot of a knife dripping with blood and then little boy following the feet of the killer walking around the table until the killer pulls out a chair and sits down. The killer’s feet are right besides the boy. All of this is happening from under the table. Then the killer sticks his head under the table.

KILLER
Boo! Its ok you can come out now.

The boy shifts to the corner of the table.

KILLER
OUT!

(Sound of the boy shivering and breathing heavily and then footsteps of killer as breathing becomes heavier as the killer begins to sit down.)

CUT TO:

3 INT. KITCHEN- NIGHT 3

An over the shoulder shot of the boy coming out from under the table.

KILLER
You don’t want to miss out on all the fun do you?

Says it sniggering and licking his lips the then body twitches. The killer cleans the knife on his shirt then hands the boy the knife which is only little.

KILLER
Have fun...I’ll be back later and don’t make me come in finding a clean knife or...

Gets close to the boys ear

KILLER
Well I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise.

The boy is still sobering. Then the killer walks off. The camera switches to a high angle shot facing the entrance of the kitchen with a clear view of a dead body on the floor in a pool of blood.

4 INT. OFFICE- DAY 4

Two cops on a desk sitting around doing nothing.

JONES
How about that game last night?

FRAZER
Hey don’t say anything I taped it!

JONES
Ok but I tell you, you will find out.

The chief walks in and throws a folder on Frazer’s desk.

FRAZER
What do we got.

CHIEF
Copycat.

Frazer is flicking through the file.

FRAZER
Who are they copying?

CHIEF
The murder shares the same characteristics to a murder I investigated thirty years ago.

JONES
How can you be sure it’s a copycat?

CHIEF
From the type of victim down to the way the victim’s throat is sliced, there is no difference what so ever. He prefers brunets who are in a position of power in their work aged 25-30 years.

Frazer looks up at the chief and stops looking at the file.

FRAZER
Ok we got it.

Chief walks out.

CUT TO:

5 EXT. PARK- DAY 5

An establishing shot of a park on a nice sunny day. Panning left to right. The shot switches to the killer and the boy in the shade under a tree near a footpath.

KILLER
Ok Alfred it’s your turn to choose. Pick anyone, anyone you want.

Looks at the boy waiting for him to answer but the boy isn’t reacting to the killer.

KILLER
Ok looks like it’s my turn again. I don’t know why you want to miss out on all of the fun all you have to do is...

He quickly stops what he is saying as a lady just walks past him.

KILLER
Found one. Now you know what to do.

The boy gets up and walks towards the lady.

CUT TO:

6 INY. KITCHEN- NIGHT 6

In the kitchen with the lady from the park on the table tied down with blood on her shirt and cuts on her face and hands crying. The killer looks towards the boy who is on his right hand side.

KILLER
You did good kid.

Then looks at the lady.

KILLER
Tell Alfred he did good.

She looks away.

KILLER
Tell him he did good!

She looks on the killer’s left hand side crying and says.

LADY
You did good.

The killer grabs her by the face making her look at the boy screaming very loud.

KILLER
TELL HIM HE DID GOOD!

The lady crying even more now.

LADY
You did good.

There is a mirror on the table he then looks at the lady.

KILLER
Look at yourself...pathetic!

Holding the mirror up near the lady then a POV shot of the killer looking into the mirror where the boy is standing behind him but he doesn’t show up on the mirror’s reflection then throws it on the table. The killer picks up tape and tapes the lady’s mouth closed then looks at the collection of knives on the table then looks to the small knife then hesitates and picks up the biggest one. There is now a big smile on his face. The lady is now trying to scream even more but the tape is preventing her from screaming.

CUT TO:

7 EXT. PARK- DAY 7

The killer and the boy sitting down in the park in the same place as they were before. A lady walks past then the killer looks at the boy and smiles.

CUT TO:

8 INT. KITCHEN- NIGHT 8

In the kitchen with the newest victim from the park on the table tied down with blood on her shirt and cuts on her face and hands crying. The killer talks to the boy.

KILLER
She’s all yours.

The boy goes to pick up a small knife but then hesitates and picks up the biggest knife instead but fails to kill the lady. The killer looks at the boy in frustration and leave the room.

KILLER
Get in here!

The lady cannot see them but she can hear the voices.

KILLER
Get it together!

KILLER
I’m fine!

KILLER
Look let’s just get this over with if you don’t want to do it I will!

KILLER
I said I’m fine!

They both walk in the killer sits down as the boy makes his way towards the lady.

CUT TO:

9 INT. KITCHEN- DAY 9

The boy is mopping up the pool of blood. Then the killer walks into the kitchen.

KILLER
Have you eaten something?

The boy shakes his head.

KILLER
Grab a plate.

They sit down eating while the killer is reading the front page of the newspaper with a picture of the lady they killed the night before.

KILLER
“Looking for a man in his late thirties early forties with (hair colour and height). He is likely to be committing these crimes on his own. He is considered to be dangerous so do not approach him.” Looks like we have to wait until things cool off.

CUT TO:

10 EXT. PARK- DAY 10

The killer and the boy are walking to their usual position but as they are walking the killer notices the two cops. He starts to walk past but then walks towards them.

KILLER
Detective Frazer right? I saw you in the paper.

FRAZER
That’s right.

KILLER
So about these murders are you close to catching the guy?

FRAZER
That’s classified I’m afraid.

KILLER
Yer but I mean 3 kidnappings and counting and all bodies are so far from each other, looks like you’ve got your hands full.

FRAZER
Umm can’t really talk right now but if you give me your contact details I’ll be happy to talk to you later.

KILLER
My name is Henry Krinckle, 154 Hopper Avenue.

Detective Frazer is writing this down while the killer is watching him write.

FRAZER
Ok well we’ll get back to you soon.

The killer looks at the boy.

KILLER
Have a good day detectives. Say goodbye.

The boy waves and he and the killer walk off. The killer is smiling and an over the shoulder shot shows the detectives looking confused.

CUT TO:

11 EXT. TOWN- DAY 11

They go to an ice cream store and after they buy the ice cream the killer is holding two cones in his hand.

KILLER
Here hold these.

He hands the boy the cones. But when he looks back the cones are on the floor.

KILLER
I CLEARLY TOLD YOU TO HOLD THE CONES!
The boy looks away feeling upset. The killer is still holding the newspaper from the morning and now he is clutching it hard in his hand.

KILLER
Let’s get out of here.

They make their way to the park and sit in their usual position.

12 EXT. PARK- DAY 12

A lady walks by talking on her phone.

KILLER
Give me her phone.

He pushes the boy forward. The boy then takes the lady’s phone and runs towards the killer and the lady yells and chases him.

CUT TO:

13 INT. OFFICE- NIGHT 13

The detectives are at the office.

JONES
There could be more than just the two victims that we know of.

Detective Frazer then just realizes something that almost gets him off his chair.

FRAZER
There are only two victims so far.

JONES
Am I missing something?

FRAZER
That, that guy at the park said something about three victims and the bodies being left so far from each other.

JONES
And?

FRAZER
We never reported that. Find me every male who has a criminal record within a 150 kilometers radius of the park.

Detective Frazer gets up and is looking over detective Jones’ shoulder.

JONES
Got a hit on 37 guys who match both searches.

FRAZER
And has a history of violence.

JONES
Now only 10 but wait a minute.

FRAZER
What do you got?

JONES
Alfred Maloney...his mother was killed by the guy who is being copied.

A picture of the killer pops up on the screen. Detective Frazer looks shocked.

FRAZER
That’s the guy! Write down that address and let’s go.

They run out.

CUT TO:

14 INT. KITCHEN- NIGHT 14

The newest victim is now tied up on the table and like the others has been wounded by the killer. The killer circles her smiling then loos towards the boy.

KILLER
Hey, Wake up! I’ve been selfish having all the fun. She’s all yours.

The boy look more uncomfortable, more unsure than ever as he grabs a knife and steps tentatively towards the girl. A close up of the killer.

KILLER
Do it.

Close up of the boy looking uncomfortable.

KILLER
Come on!

Close up of the boy looking uncomfortable.

KILLER
She’s all yours!

Close up of the boy looking uncomfortable.

KILLER
Do it!

Close up of the boy looking uncomfortable.

KILLER
Do it!

The boy holds up the knife as he is standing near the victim then stabs himself. An overhead shot zooming out with the killer holding the knife in his hands and the boy not there. Then the screen turns black and then the detectives walk in and it cuts to black again.
